Olympic Losers

gold-medals-8_1.jpgI love watching the Olympics. Do you? It's unfortunate that work and life responsibilities prohibit taking in even one venue all the hours it's open, let alone all of the competitions in all of the sports.

You'll see Michael Phelps on camera at least 100 times due to his historic win of eight gold medals encompassing seven world records and one Olympics record. Each replay of his triumph shows clips of individual wins.

Winners always win and they win big. The only people who win bigger than winners is winners who lose then win. What I mean by that is winners who suffered a mishap and came back to win big.

Remember Kerri Strug in the 1996 games sticking a vault landing on her sprained ankle — and being carried to the gold medal platform by her coach? She gave one up for the team, but ultimately was inducted into the U.S. Olympics Hall of Fame.

We love underdogs, but we love winners more. The best yet is when the underdog wins. Unless better still is the winner who wins and wins and wins - like Michael Phelps.

What about you? Are you winning amidst the challenges and mishaps of daily life? Are you winning financially? Even on your mortgage, or is that one place where you're an Olympic Loser?

I urge you to make improvements regularly, whether monthly, weekly or daily. Make it a habit to not only work for money but work on your money. You may feel like you're having to land on a sprained ankle, or you may feel unstoppable. Either way, and anywhere in between, you can win. It may not take the average 12 years it takes an Olympian to achieve the gold — or it may. Twelve years will pass like the snap of your fingers anyway.

Why not let your mortgage make you rich?
