Mortgage Revolt
As we've discussed in the last couple of posts, there are ways to pay less total money on your mortgage - W-A-A-A-A-Y less - but that isn't information you're likely to get from your bank. I believe that is not entirely because they are self-serving and want to haul in as much money as possible. In my experience, most of the people who work in a bank are just like most of the people who work at Sears: they do not understand how money works. They can't help you unless you know which questions to ask so they can find the answers or you're speaking to a specialist.
This has given rise to many opportunities for other companies to step up and explain to you how to pay less on your mortgage. Basically, you need knowledge, not special skills or even special software. The knowledge is sold for anywhere from $25 to $10,000. Let You Mortgage Make you Rich sells for $97. There's an optional $15/mo for three months for additional support and information that most people find very helpful.
What you should be gathering from all this is a reason to revolt against lending as currently practiced. Fight for your right to pay less. How? By simply learning how to pay less on your mortgage, then implementing a plan. Because if you don't pay less, you're paying too much!
