Critical Illness Insurance & Your Mortgage
We may all live longer these days but that doesn't mean we shouldn't plan for unforeseen events–especially as a homeowner with a mortgage and a family! Although you may never need critical health insurance, it is preferable to have it an not use it than the opposite! This is a case of providing the essentials of living in today's world for your loved ones and your debts in the event of your untimely death.
Studies have shown there is a strong possibility that at some stage in your life you will suffer from a critical illness so most of the insurance providers now cater for these conditions.Studies have highlighted the problem with almost one man in five by the time they retire having a serious medical condition. For women, this figure is slightly lower with only one in six being affected by before retirement.
When asked, the majority of people surveyed claimed they were either unaware of critical illness insurance or they just did not believe they needed it. Although this type of protection is taken out for many reasons, the majority of people use it to protect their mortgage repayments but these days, critical illness cover and life insurance can be linked directly with mortgage repayments.
Whilst over the last few years the amount of insurance policies arranged online has increased dramatically, not every type of policy was available but coverage for critical illness has now been added. For obvious reasons there will be certain things that require physical evidence so these plans are not always smooth sailing to organize. This is because many insurance providers who offer this type of coverage wish to have the applicant take a medical examination by an independent physician to ensure there is nothing untoward right from the start. Insurers have become more understanding when a person who has one of their critical illness insurance policies contacts them when making a claim.
Some groups of individuals fall into high risk categories like those who smoke for example and can be expected to pay more for their cover. Many things are taken into account when dealing with the risk factor associated with any type of policy including the applicant's age, their overall health, whether the type of work they do is dangerous or any activities they participate in, not just whether they are a smoker.
One of the biggest benefits of critical illness insurance is it will also cover the health and living expenses should a person be diagnosed with a terminal illness. No person can guarantee that they will always be there for their family but insurance plans are one way to ease the burden if you are diagnosed with a critical medical condition.
Of course, you can still pay off your home years sooner, then bank or invest what you're saving on payments. Either way, planing for eventualities and for your family is a smart thing to do. After all, that's why you bought a home in the first place, isn't it?
